Qual e&#8217; il significato del redentore a Venezia? Il Redentore ha origine infatti nel 1577 e celebra la fine della devastante pandemia di peste che nel sedicesimo secolo aveva decimato un terzo della popolazione della Repubblica Serenissima. Il Doge Alvise Mocenigo giuró di erigere un bellissimo tempio qualora la cittá fosse sopravvissuta al flagello. Nel 1577 con la fine della pestilenza il Doge Sebastiano Venier sciolse il voto e mantenendo la promessa fatta dal suo predecessore fece costruire la basilica del Redentore dall’architetto Andrea Palladio sull’isola della Giudecca. Il 20 luglio del 1577, per festeggiare la fine della peste, fu costruito per la prima volta un ponte di barche per raggiungere il luogo in cui stava sorgendo la Basilica ed ebbe luogo la prima processione. 3. Qual è l’origine della maschera veneziana della peste? Ed è in questo periodo che si presume sia stata ideata una una “tenuta medica” divenuta successivamente una delle più tipiche maschere veneziane: il medico della peste. All’interno del becco ricurvo veniva posta una mistura di erbe profumate, aglio e una spugna bagnata d’aceto, con lo scopo di purificare l’aria epreservare i medici dal contagio. 4. Cos’è il ponte di barche? Da ormai cinque secoli, si allestisce per l’occasione un ponte di barche lungo 330 metri per unire Venezia all’isola della Giudecca in modo tale da permettere agli abitanti di prendere parte alla processione e alla Santa Messa nella chiesa del Redentore. 5. Perché le barche dei veneziani sono addobbate da luci? Tradizione vuole che fin dal mattino tutti i veneziani preparino a festa le loro barche con festoni, palloncini colorati e per poi all’imbrunire raggiungere il bacino di San Marco ed il canale della Giudecca per ammirare lo show pirotecnico in compagnia di amici e buon cibo.</p>
