The hotel's history is inextricably linked to the Italian Savoia royal family since its origins, which we have been able to trace thanks to the various testimonies we have managed to collect over the years.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

The first evidence of the establishment's existence is a black-and-white postcard from the 19th century, depicting the then Bavaria Hotel and Jolanda.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t

The hotel was actually named after the official union of the Savoia royal family with the Duchy of Bavaria, sealed two centuries ago with the wedding between the princess Enrichetta Adelaide Savoia and the duke Ferdinand.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

The bond with the Italian royal family is confirmed as well by the presence of an equestrian statue in Riva degli Schiavoni, a few meters away from the hotel, dedicated to the king Vittorio Emanuele II to remember the tenth anniversary of his death. The name of the hotel had been then modified in Savoia Hotel & Principessa Jolanda, as proved by an iconography realized during to the so-called Belle Epoque (1900-1930) by the publishing house Richter & C., who used to produce postcards of the most important luxury hotels of Italy. Its definitive name Hotel Savoia & Jolanda was finally assigned in the 1940s.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Over the past decades, Hotel Savoia & Jolanda had the great honor to welcome several renowned personages of the world cultural scene, among which the well-known and iconic Peggy Guggenheim who stayed in one of our suites on the occasion of the XXIV Venice Art Biennale in 1948.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

2018 marked the 70th anniversary of the Peggy Guggenheim exhibition which has been celebrated in the 2019 Art Biennale: the Greek Pavilion displayed a letter dating back to June 11th 1948 addressed to Mrs. Peggy Guggenheim herself who at the time was guest of \"Albergo Savoia e Yolanda\"<\/i>, as written in the letter signed by the then Greek consul Typalde Forestis assigned in Venice.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

La nostra storia La storia dell\u2019Hotel \u00e8 indissolubilmente legata alla famiglia reale italiana Savoia fin dalle origini della struttura, come documentato dalle diverse testimonianze che siamo riusciti a raccogliere nel corso degli anni. 1800 La prima prova dell\u2019esistenza della struttura \u00e8 una cartolina postale in bianco e nero risalente al 19\u00b0 secolo, che ritrae l\u2019allora hotel Bavaria e Jolanda. Il 2018 ha segnato il 70\u00b0 anniversario dell\u2019esposizione della collezione di Peggy Guggenheim ed \u00e8 ricordato nell\u2019esposizione d\u2019arte della Biennale in corso quest\u2019anno all\u2019interno della sala del Padiglione Greco con una lettera dell\u201911 giugno 1948 indirizzata a Mrs. Peggy Guggenheim ospite in quei giorni dell\u2019 \u201dAlbergo Savoia e Yolanda\u201d, come si legge dalla lettera stessa firmata dall\u2019allora console greco in stanzia a Venezia Typalde Forestis. Visitando il museo Collezione Peggy Guggenheim di Venezia, \u00e8 inoltre possibile ammirare la foto di Peggy Guggenheim seduta sul balcone di una delle suite dell\u2019Hotel Savoia & Jolanda mentre \u00e8 intenta a scrivere a macchina in compagnia di uno dei suoi amati cagnolini.
